Publisher's Note | EB5 Investors Magazine | Winter 2015
This issue marks the second edition of our Top 25 EB-5 Attorneys and we are honored to recognize the leading legal practitioners of EB-5 in the country. Our list includes immigration attorneys, corporate and securities attorneys, as well as certain specialists in the EB-5 space. Our team interviewed each and every individual on the list and we are very excited to share them with you.
In this issue we cover the topic visa retrogression for investors from mainland China. David Hirson, Kate Kalmykov, Cletus Weber and Stephen Yale-Loehr help shed some light on what retrogression means for investors, practitioners, regional centers and the industry. Regional center operators can look forward to reading Robert Ahrenholz’s and Mariza Mckee’s article on establishing an SEC-compliant website, with step-by-step guidance, and Ronald Fieldstone’s article highlighting important disclosures and key risk factors that need to be addressed in EB-5 offerings.
As always, in my publishers note, I like to highlight recent accomplishments that our team is proud of. Last month, we launched the official Chinese version of EB5Investors Magazine, featuring articles tailored specifically to the Chinese market and mailed out to agents and stakeholders. The cover story of this first issue showcases the Chens, a Chinese family currently living in San Francisco, who obtained permanent residency through EB-5 and got their investment returned—a true success story for the program. Besides this success story, the Chinese publication is mostly focused on educating agents and stakeholders on important topics, such as due diligence and source of funds. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for January 17, 2015, when we are hosting our annual EB-5 Las Vegas Conference at the Wynn Encore resort. It is always a pleasure to welcome our readers to the conference and introduce them to professionals in the EB-5 space. The event promises to be highly rewarding and we are excited to see Congressman Jared Polis, a big EB-5 proponent, return as our keynote speaker.
Best regards,
Ali Jahangiri
