Laura L. Lichter is the Managing Partner and Founder of Lichter Immigration, a nationally recognized law firm that has narrowly focused on immigration law since its inception in 1994. Her practice emphasizes contested family and naturalization applications, representation of removable aliens, administrative appeals, and related Federal litigation. Attorney Lichter has received national recognition for her contributions to the field of immigration law and is a very well respected immigration law expert, mentor, author, and lecturer. Ms. Lichter is also strongly committed to education, community outreach, and access to counsel and has been regularly involved with many initiatives, projects, and pro bono cases.
Attorney Lichter is the American Immigration Lawyer Association’s national President-Elect. The American Immigration Lawyers Association, or AILA, is the most well respected professional association for immigration law professors and lawyers in the United States. Ms. Lichter has occupied AILA national leadership roles for over a decade. She served as AILA’s top liaison to some of the most important immigration enforcement agencies within the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security, including the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR). Attorney Lichter has also served as AILA’s Second Vice President, Director of Board of Governors, Secretary and Treasurer.
Attorney Lichter earned her undergraduate degree, with honors, in History and Political science from Swarthmore College in 1989. She then graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1994, where she was Production Editor of the Law Review. Ms. Lichter has been recognized as a Colorado Super Lawyer for the years of 2009, 2010, and 2011. In her spare time, she is a part-time rancher, an avid equestrian, and a runner.
