Will the conditional green card be extended automatically while I-829 is pending?

It has been three years since I submitted my I-829. What is my current immigration status? Has my previous status been extended automatically?

The general rule is that the conditional green card will continue to be renewed until a decision is made on the I-829. Assuming you do not receive the renewal notice, contact the USCIS, just to make sure everything is fine.

As long as your I-829 is pending, and even after a denial but before you are removed by an immigration judge, you remain a conditional lawful permanent resident and you are entitled I-551 extension stamps.

You should make an annual Infopass appointment and have USCIS stamp your passport, so that you do not run into any troubles when you travel too.

You got a receipt presumably extending for 18 months only. Thereafter, you have to make INFOPASS appointments at the local office for an I-551 stamp in the passport extending further until I-829 approved and new ten year card is sent.

Investors receive one additional year of conditional permanent residency status after filing the I-829. After that, they should seek I-551 stamps in their passports.

You are technically still a permanent resident by virtue of having timely filed an I-829. However, you do not have proof of your green card status. If there is an emergency circumstance, you can call USCIS and try and get an appointment for an emergency temporary green card stamp.
