Why is my I-526 receipt number invalid in the USCIS case status system? - EB5Investors.com

Why is my I-526 receipt number invalid in the USCIS case status system?

It has been a couple of months since I received my I-526 receipt. However, when I try to check the case status on the USCIS website, it says, “You are attempting to add a receipt number that does not exist in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again.” Is this normal? How long does it take the system to update my case status? When can I start tracking the case status online?

Have your attorney put in a service request for IPO to determine if there is a problem with your I-526 receipt.

It could be an error in the system or it could be your receipt has a problem. You need to write to the IPO and send them a copy of the receipt, as this is unusual.

Generally, USCIS&#39 case online status is usually not current. Advisably, since you have received your I-526 receipt months ago, call the customer service center toll-free number on your receipt to inquire about your application and ask why you could not verify your petition online. If it is an error, request for correction.

No, it is not normal. There is clearly something wrong here. Did you have your immigration attorney follow up with USCIS for you? If not, either you or your attorney should be in touch with them immediately.

It&#39s hard to know why the USCIS website reflects that your receipt number does not exist. By this time, it should reflect your actual receipt number. You&#39ll likely have to personally, or through your attorney, contact USCIS to determine the reason why the website does not reflect your receipt number.

USCIS&#39 case status webpage is nice when it works, but it is not an official proof of filing or status and can be unreliable. I have seen valid cases that will not be accepted at all, and sometimes it takes several weeks after receiving the receipt notice to be able to add it to the system.

There is sometimes a lag time between when a case number is assigned and when the status gets uploaded/updated on the system. However, in this case, if it has been a couple of months, you should contact the service center&#39s 1-800 number to verify that the case is processing properly.

Call USCIS to report this. Probably a computer error at input.

The USCIS websites are less than reliable. I recommend you alert your investment immigration attorney to this issue immediately.
