Why is the EB-5 regional center category still marked as “U” in the newly release March visa bulletin?

The March visa bulletin was released a few hours ago, but it still marked the EB-5 regional center category as “U”. I heard that the president just signed the bill to prevent another government shutdown. Is the EB-5 regional center program included in the bill? Does it get funded? My family and I have been waiting for an interview date after our documents were accepted on Feb 1. When can we expect this category to be available again?

It may be because the Visa Bulletin was already issued before the signing of the bill to extend the EB-5 regional center program. However, visa numbers for the EB-5 regional center category should be available for the March filings. This should rectified with the next Visa Bulletin.

They do not change the Visa Bulletin when an extension is granted. If you check at the end of the Visa Bulletin it explains how it is automatically concerted to the new date.

The regional center program was extended to Sept. 30, 2019, and your interview should be scheduled unless you are from countries that are subject to an immigrant visa backlog, like China or Vietnam. Your attorney should contact NVC about the interview status.

It must be a technical issue on timing. Most likely, the March Visa Bulletin that was released after the extension this month in February was drafted before the extension this month, in February. They should be able to correct the situation at the latest by March when they release the April bulletin. The program is extended until Sept. 30, 2019. This is a fact. Not to worry.

My guess is that the March bulletin was drafted before the bill was signed, and at that time, there was no deal in place. Perhaps April will correct this.

President Trump on Friday, Feb. 15, signed the continuing resolution that extended the EB-5 regional center program through the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30, 2019. As such, assuming you&#39re not from a country like China, where there is a visa backlog, you&#39d be scheduled for your interview as soon as the EB-5 petition is approved and you can through the process with the National Visa Center and the American consulate abroad to schedule you for a final interview.

It is likely that the State Department will issue an updated Visa Bulletin for March or make some other written announcement that the regional Center EB-5 category is available (although still subject to the cutoff dates for China and Vietnam).
