Anywhere you wish, really. The conditional green card is still a green card for the purposes of finding employment in the United States. You do not have to work for the entity into which you invest or even live in the same geographic area.

You may work anywhere in the United States. You have the same rights as if your card was permanent.

During the two-year period of conditional permanent residency, the resident is allowed to work wherever in the United States for whichever employer the resident wishes.

Although conditional, your residency is still permanent for a two-year period. As a permanent resident, you could live and work anywhere in United States. The direct EB-5 investment requires you to be actively involved in that business, but it could be in a policy-setting role, such as part of the board of directors, and you need not be involved in the day-to-day operations of the business. Thus, you could work at another company as long as you get quarterly or annual reports of the EB-5 business and you could monitor the business direction.

Conditional residence does not imply any employment obligation, meaning that the investor may work anywhere, not necessarily at the investment enterprise.

An EB-5 conditional permanent resident enjoys all the privileges of a U.S. lawful permanent resident. For example, he or she can work, travel and attend school without immigration limitation. A permanent resident can work any place in which he or she is hired.

An EB-5 investor is allowed to work for any employer in the United States if he or she has a conditional green card. Exceptions may include federal jobs requiring U.S. citizenship.

If it is a direct EB-5, you are required to develop and direct the business. If you can handle working at another job as well, you are free to do so.
