Is it advisable to live in the same location as my EB-5 project once I relocate to the U.S. after obtaining a temporary green card? Or should I live somewhere else in the U.S.? Can I still live in the country during the mandatory 2-year sustainment period and while my I-829 is being processed, which typically takes 4-5 years? Do EB-5 investors have a “go-to” place in the U.S. I should know about?

EB-5 Immigration attorneysThere is no requirement for you to reside in the same location as a Regional Center project once you have immigrated to the United States. There is no specific go-to place for EB-5 investors per se. It is a matter of personal preference, lifestyle, etc. You may reside in the United States for the 2 years you hold conditional permanent residence status, and while your I-829 is pending. In fact, if you have to reside outside the country for extended periods, this could be problematic and affect your ability to retain your permanent residence. Absences in excess of one year could be construed as an abandonment of your conditional permanent residence status.
