What to do if USCIS says my I-526 receipt number is wrong?

It has been a few months since I received my I-526 receipt. However, when I check my case status on the USCIS website, I see a message that says, “You are trying to add a receipt number that is not found in My Case Status. Please verify your receipt number and try again.” Is this usual? How long does it usually take for the system to reflect my case status? When will I be able to track my case status online?

Sadly, the online status reporting is often inaccurate. But if you only filed a few months ago, most likely no news yet.

Likely a computer glitch. Call the USCIS Customer Service number.
