What are other possible sources of EB-5 capital?

We have a project and are seeking EB-5 capital. What are the possible routes for finding EB-5 investors? I know we could work directly with an EB-5 regional center, but are there any other possible sources for raising EB-5 capital?

There are many possible ways to raise EB-5 capital. It is no different than raising capital in a non-EB-5 context. Finding investors in other parts of the world is tricky, but can be done if you contact the right middlemen. In China, these are the migration agencies. Most of them work with and through regional centers.

You could work with a regional center or solicit funds based on direct investment. All of the regular SEC rules would apply and you would have to understand the rules regarding creating jobs for the EB-5 program. For direct investments, indirect jobs are not counted so you would need to create 10 full-time jobs per green card issued.

The sources for EB-5 capital can come from foreign agents, your own marketing efforts and from registered broker/dealers in the United States.

What is the nature of the investment project? If real estate development, you might try to contact foreign real estate developers in widening their business into the United States. I would look for foreign companies that deal in your type of project.

You can work with registered broker-dealers or, if you are actually the issuer in the EB-5 offering, you may be able to market yourself at conventions, events, seminars, etc. Please consult with EB-5 counsel and a securities law attorney as there are very important regulations to be followed.

Getting agents in various overseas countries or advertising there directly.
