What is the estimated processing time for I-526 applications?

I filed my I-526 in early 2018. When can I expect to get a result from USCIS? It has been almost two years and I am still waiting. I have not gotten any notice from USCIS. Is this normal?

Based on today&#39s processing times, you should receive an answer before end of this year.

You should have got a receipt. Anticipate about two years. Some take longer and some less.

It is hard to speculate when your I-526 petition will be adjudicated, but it should be soon.

Don&#39t be surprised if it takes three to four years based on current processing times. The good news is if you have a child closer to 21, it freezes his or her age longer.

Generally, the processing times for I-526 petitions depends on the country of origin of each petitioner. For example, the processing time for a Chinese petitioner is different from, say, a Singapore petition. Thus, there is no rule of general applicability. With reference to your case, unless one knows your country of origin it will be difficult to predict when your processing time should have been in comparison with other petitioners from another country.

To be honest, compared to other applicants who have filed their I-526 petition earlier than you and have still not gotten approval, or denial for that matter, you have not waited long enough. If you check out the USCIS website, they are posting current processing times for I-526 petitions of 28.5 months to 49.5 months. You have not reached even the lower part of that band. I would be patient at this point. If you are worried, you could ask your attorney to inquire, but frankly, I am not sure that you will get any more traction that way, either.

USCIS has increased its estimated processing times to up to nearly four years. Picking an established project with previously approved I-526 petitions may decrease that time for newer investors.

You may expect an answer in 22 to 26 months from the date of filing. Sadly, your long wait is normal, unless you obtain an expedite.
