I had my F-1 visa interview at the beginning of the month and was informed by the US consulate in New Delhi that my visa was approved. They kept my passport. However, I have yet to get it back. Also, my online status says “refused” and “processing.” I have asked my university in the US for guidance, and they say I must wait for a formal notice, and that the status could still be being processed?

EB-5 Immigration attorneysAdministrative processing timelines vary anywhere from a few weeks to several months. You’ll either get your passport back with the visa stamp when processing is done, or receive a 221(g) slip (physically or via email) requesting additional information.
The official CEAC visa status system uses the term “Refused” during Section 221(g) administrative processing, even when the case is not finally denied.
The visa may still be issued after further review.

EB-5 Immigration attorneysThe visa status may be showing as “refused” when there is an administrative processing (visa is being processing but it takes more time). It can change to issues after the administrative processing is completed.
