What are the likely reasons that my Australian visa application may be refused?

My family and I intend to apply next year. As we prepare, we would like to know what common reasons for refusals are so we can avoid mistakes.

Common reason is not understanding the time of application criteria for the visa class applied for and not supplying the correct evidence or insufficient documentation to support the application. Visa applicants nevertheless apply without understanding what is required and therefore have their application refused. I would highly recommend to use a registered Migraton Agent/Migration Lawyer to case-manage the application.

There are no real common reasons, as officers generally will try and resolve the abnormalities with the applicant. But, I can say that people often fail as the true intention of the visa is overlooked. These are matters lawyers and judges discuss heavily in Court. An ordinary person will find too burdensome to access case law and comments. Even with my experience, I would carefully examine and re-examine visited issues to ensure that the law and applications have not changed over time. Further, I can only say that I deal with a lot of troublesome cases because the applicant or the applicant''s lawyer has made mistakes. Unfortunately, the question is too broad. The best advice I can give you right now is, work with a lawyer or agent if you are worried and not confident. This will go a long way.

Reasons for refusal of a visa application in the SIV category include failure to convince the Department of Immigration that your funds were acquired through acceptable, legal business dealings; failure to pass the character test (if you have a significant criminal record); and failure to pass the health criteria.
