How soon must I leave the U.S. if I leave my H-1B visa?

I have been working in the U.S. on an H-1B visa for the past two years. I have been offered a job in my home country. I would like to know how soon I should leave the U.S. were I to accept this offer.

Regulations provide a discretionary grace period for H-1B workers (and their dependents) following the end of employment. During this time, they may be treated as maintaining their H-1B status for up to 60 consecutive days, or until the expiration of their authorized validity period, whichever comes first.
It is important to note that USCIS has the authority to shorten or even eliminate this grace period in some instances, and no employment is permitted while it lasts.
When departing the United States, individuals should keep evidence of their travel and later confirm their departure was recorded correctly by reviewing their I-94 travel history is available on CBP’s website.
Finally, be aware of a recent development where some H-1B workers laid off from U.S. jobs have received Notices to Appear (NTAs), placing them into
formal removal proceedings.
