How soon are biometrics taken after submitting an I-829?

How soon after filing the I-829 form do the biometrics happen? Do I have to present in the U.S. to file for I-829, or can I do it abroad? Can the biometric be taken at a U.S. embassy?

Biometrics is done in the U.S. only; but often they can re-use biometrics if you did that previously on your I-485 or another case. Typically, 2-4 weeks for biometrics but every location is different and depends on their open slots.

Biometrics can generally only be completed in the U.S. and cannot be done abroad.
