How should I choose between the different EB-5 setasides?

While researching the EB-5 visa requirements, I realized that where I wanted to invest directly in the U.S. is not a set aside because it’s an urban area without high unemployment levels. It is also not an infrastructure project unless investing in the renovation of a building counts as one. Also, from my understanding, this would mean my application will not be processed faster. So, I am looking to switch to a set-aside project, and I would like to know what I need to look for in such investments. I would like to invest directly because I want to have some control in the business, but I am open to the regional center option.

Investing directly means hiring 10 full time workers for many years, even if the business loses money. Regional center projects are best, and you need a competent advisor to guide you through the process. The goal is to get your green card and your money back and both are achievable if you undertake due diligence on the project and have a strong team supporting you.
