Depending on the case load of the local immigration office where the applicant resides and the criminal background check, the process can take between 6-8 months. Absent any emergency in need for traveling abroad, it takes 3-4 months from submission of the adjustment of status package to receive the travel documents and work authorization.

The USCIS will adjudicate the I-485 application and this may take several months. After the filing of the I-485 application, within 90 days, you should receive your employment authorization card and permission to travel and re-enter the United States.

USCIS processing times change from time to time, but the average right now is about four to six months. You should receive work and travel authorization in about 90 days after filing the I-485 package (which should include I-765 for work and I-131 for travel).

Employment and travel documents must be issued within 90 days of filing of the I-485. They generally arrive within 60-90 days for most cases. Processing times are published at the USCIS official website.

The application could take from 6 to 9 months. Then it depends on what country you are applying from to determine when the Department of State will issue your visa.

If there is an EB-5 quota, it only takes 4-5 months to be approved. If after you submitted I-485, the backlog occurs and your priority date is not current, then your I-485 will be approved 1-2 months after your priority date becomes current in the future. It usually takes 2-3 months to get travel documents and work authorization after you submit the I-485.

The travel and work authorization card must be issued within 90 days of submitting the I-485 AOS application along with the I-765 (work authorization) and I-131 (travel permit), but normally, USCIS approves and issues the card in about two months. As to the actual I-485 adjudication, the current processing times are 4-6 months.

Currently, USCIS estimated I-485 processing at 4-8 months. If you apply for employment authorization and advance parole (travel), those should receive a decision in 90 days, allowing you to travel and work in the United States while the I-485 is pending.
