How long does it take to receive an interview notice?

Last week we received the notice from NVC that our EB-5 related documents were approved. Now we are waiting for the consulate to set the interview date for our EB-5 visa. How long do we need to wait for the notice from the consulate? Does it differ for U.S. consulates in different countries? We live in Abu Dhabi.

The arrival of notices through the mail depends on the mailing system within each country.

Congratulations on the approval of your EB-5 petition. You will now receive a notification from the National Visa Center and you must respond timely to show that you are documentarily qualified. Only then will the American Consulate at the U. S. embassy in Abu Dhabi be notified. The time it takes for you to be scheduled for your appointment will vary, but normally it would be at least six months or longer. Yes, it will vary from consular post to consular post, depending upon their backlogs and work schedule in terms of scheduling applicants for their immigrant visa interviews.

The consulates will send interview notices with about one month of notice (so if you received an interview notice on Aug. 1, your interview will probably be on Aug.30). However, when that interview notice comes is a different timeline. That may be 60 days from the date the NVC receives the civil documents. However (part 2), everything with immigration is much slower than advertised by the various consulates and USCIS.

It varies. Usually three to four months, but background checks cause variations.

Usually six to eight weeks, but it varies from consulate to consulate.

The speed of scheduling the interview depends on the post where the interview will be held. Due to the number of cases that each post handles, some posts are slower than others. You should get the interview within two to four months from the time that NVC notifies you that all the documents are in hand and reviewed.

My experience in Abu Dhabi is that interview notices are issued with one month and scheduled for approximately three to four weeks out. Availability of interviews also depends on availability of staff at the consulate and their overall workload.
