How is the shutdown affecting interviews in U.S. consulates?

Given the current government shutdown, I am concerned for my EB-5 application. My I-526 petition, filed in June, is still pending approval. So far, no additional requests for information. If my application is approved, yet the U.S. government shutdown continues, could it affect my interview at the consulate in Colombia? I would like to know if this has affected other petitioners like myself.

The processing of I-526 is largely unaffected by the shutdown and processing has continued, the interviews in consulates are ongoing. Hope this helps.

The shutdown does not impact EB-5 filings-they funded from filing fees.

Even with the current federal shutdown (began Oct. 1, 2025 and still ongoing as of today, Nov. 1, 2025), immigrant‑visa interviews at U.S. embassies and consulates are still being conducted because consular services are fee funded. If your EB‑5 petition is approved while the shutdown continues, your consular case for Bogotá, Colombia should move forward, though modest slowdowns (e.g., scheduling support or rescheduling) are possible.
