I applied for the diversity lottery. When I filled out the form, I gave my name and my parents’ name. However, I got a response to my application containing a different birth certificate with a name slightly different from my actual legal name and a different mother’s name. It turns out that when I was 4 years old, my aunt petitioned for a U.S. visa, added me to the application, and claimed to be my mother. Her application was approved, but she did not continue with consular processing because she later withdrew her petition. Now, I have been selected for the Diversity Lottery 2024 with my correct name and a legally recognized birthday certificate with my mother’s name correctly written. However, I did not include the previous information in my application because I was never aware of this, it happened 24 years ago! I will be going for the lottery interview in August, could this past situation affect my chances of getting this visa?
