How can USCIS take my biometrics if I wear a cast?

Soon after filing my I-485 form, I broke my right hand. I was told that the biometrics appointment takes between 5 and 8 weeks after filing this form. I have been with a cast for three weeks now. What happens if I receive the notice while still wearing the cast?

USCIS can reschedule your biometrics appointment in cases where it is warranted such as yours. You can come to the biometrics appointment with a cast and see how far into the process they can get and they will ask you to return or you can contact USCIS and ask to reschedule your appointment due to a medical condition.

The part of the finger used for fingerprints is the pad on the last joint of the fingers and thumbs.

Provide the medical letter from doctor so they can place in your file and they will reschedule the biometric. You can call and request the change once you receive your notice and/mail it in as well.

If the cast doesn’t cover your fingers, it should be ok. If you don’t feel comfortable to be taken biometric, you can request to postpone it by calling the USCIS Customer Service hotline. They can reschedule it.
