I have an importing business in several countries in Latin America, but I feel like I need to be located in a more global setting to obtain better deals. I have been looking at several investor visa options, and I think the EB-5 visa is the most advisable for me to obtain. However, I would like to invest in my own business rather than provide the capital to another investment. Is the EB-5 still a good option in that case? Or is there another way for me to be in the U.S. but doing my own business?

EB-5 Immigration attorneysEB-5 is a good option to do what you want, and you may invest in your own business provided you are the only EB-5 investor. Depending on whether your country of nationality is on the list of E-2 treaty countries you may be able to come sooner on an nonimmigrant E-2 to get this set up while awaiting the slower EB-5/permanent residency process.

EB-5 Immigration attorneysEB-5 Standalone or Direct investments, those that involve your direct investment into your own self-controlled business, continue to be viable options. There are pros and cons involved with the two options – namely investing in a Standalone vs. Regional Center business. It will be best to discuss these options with an EB-5 specialist.
