I became a legal resident in the U.S. in 2010 after marrying a U.S. citizen. I received my 10-year green card. In 2018, I had to go back to Germany because my father became very ill, and I overstayed my authorized period. In January 2021, my husband and I filed for re-entry, which was granted, and I returned to the U.S. to visit in August 2021. In October 2021, I came back to the U.S. and have not left since. Do I still meet the time requirements for citizenship? When would be the earliest that I can apply?

Immigration attorneysIf you are still married to and living with a U.S. citizen, you may apply for citizenship immediately under the 3-year rule.
