How can I get biometrics done for my re-entry permit application with a walk-in appointment?

I am an EB-5 investor and just got my conditional green card. I need to leave the country for an extended period of time. I scheduled a biometrics appointment for the re-entry permit application, but the assigned date is too late. I have to leave the country before that. Is it possible to make a walk-in appointment at the biometrics office and get that procedure done before the scheduled date? What is the best way to reschedule for an earlier date?

Yes, you may be able to change the appointment date by scheduling a meeting through InfoPass with the nearest USCIS office, where you can meet immigration officials describe your situation and seek a change of date. If you can&#39t do an InfoPass, then consider requesting for a change by mail.

Call the 1-800 number if you want frustration. The other way is to go in with the receipt and beg. Sometimes Wednesday mornings are less busy.

You can&#39t make an appointment, but if you have the receipt they may or may not take you on a walk-in basis.

You should not leave the country for an extended period of time without a re-entry permit. If you do, your whole petition may be considered abandoned. If you could come back for your assigned biometrics date and get your re-entry permit issued, then you could stay away for up to two years. Of course, by all means try to get an expedited appointment through your attorney. But in the most likely case that you won&#39t get such an appointment, either wait to take the biometrics test or make sure to be back and appear to take the test on your assigned date.

USCIS has pretty much ended all walk-in and InfoPass appointments.

We&#39ve had clients appear at the application support center that does the biometrics with the appointment notice, but on an earlier date/time where there is an urgency/emergency and they successfully got processed.

You can go to the ASC early with your original biometrics appointment notice, your valid photo ID, and proof of your travel (air ticket/itinerary); they should be able to accommodate you.

You cannot make a walk-in appointment, but you can go and try to make a new appointment on InfoPass for your biometrics at the application support center. Or as the term "walk-in" implies, you can simply show up, plead your case as to why you had to miss your original appointment, your timing concerns, and if there&#39s room, they may informally squeeze you in to take your biometrics.

While you may be able to walk in due to an emergency, I will be very careful in leaving the U.S. at this time. Please note because of your conditional residency, you can leave the U.S. for a short period of time and come back without the entry permit. The concern is your extended stay while on conditional, as it may affect your EB-5 and the removal of your conditional residency. I would consult with your immigration lawyer before leaving the U.S.

Have your immigration attorney email the local support center to ask for an expedited appointment.
