How can I file my son’s taxes for reentry while he lives outside the U.S.?

As a green card holder, I will need to apply for a reentry permit for my son when he leaves the U.S. (in the next 3 years) for his military service in Singapore. I will need to file his taxes to show that he has not abandoned his Green Card. Should I file his tax return as an individual or dependent?

I would file for him as an individual and have him sign it unless he qualifies as your dependent. The Reentry Permit must be filed while he is on U.S. soil.
