As a green card holder, when should I file the green card application for my spouse?

I am a green card holder and my spouse is in the US on an F-1 visa. Should I wait until I become a citizen to file a green card application for my spouse, or can I do it now and later upgrade it once I become a citizen? Which option seems wiser?

I would file now as the FB-2a category is almost current anyway. You file the I-130 and I-130A now and when the Priority Date is current per the Visa Bulletin, file the I-485/I-765/I-131/I-864 etc.

Marriage green cards can be filed by a green card holder, and then ''upgraded'' after the petitioner obtains US citizenship.
