What is the timeframe for a UK retiree to get the EB-5 visa these days?

We are retired UK citizens wanting to be near our daughter and new granddaughter. Given our age, the time it takes is truly critical. 1.How long should we expect realistically to get an EB-5 visa? 2. What are the costs? We can only do EB-5 now. What additional costs should we factor in for legal and administrative fees?

Same as everyone else: 3-4 years for I-526 processing, several more months (maybe a year?) for NVC/Consulate processing. And then after the 2 years of conditional residence, 2-4 years for the I-829. A Writ of Mandamus can be filed to compel USCIS to make a decision if processing extends past a certain point.

First, unless you invest in the direct program, we do have to wait until the regional center program is reauthorized. I have advised potential investors to start due diligence on project selection and to start preparing the source of funds report. Realistically, based on current processing times, you are looking at 2 -3 years but we are hopeful they will improve. Admin fees vary by project but are usually $50,000-$60,000.

Realistically 3 years from the date of filing to visa interview (assuming consulates resume standard operating procedures within 3 years). You will need to schedule a time with an attorney who can advise of costs based on the particulars of your case.

If you want a quick and dirty estimate; expect to pay in the neighborhood of $600K for your EB-5 investment, admin fees, and legal fees. Processing times and consular processing fluctuates, but it would be reasonable to estimate that from the moment you file your I-526 petition to the moment you step foot into the U.S. (with an approved EB-5 visa) may be closer to 4 years. If you need to get to the U.S. sooner, it may be worthwhile to explore whether there are alternative visas you can qualify for to help you enter the U.S. sooner as you await your EB-5 case to get adjudicated. Good luck.

Posted processing times are absurd; 5-10 years. You might want to consider an interim E-2 to come sooner or possibly have your daughter sponsor you.
