What happens after I file my I-824 for EB-5 and how long is the process to get the EB-5 visa?

I have filed I-824 after the approval of I-526. What is the next step and usually how long is the whole process taking these days until I could possibly get a visa to travel? My country does not have any EB-5 visa backlogs. How long is I-824 petitions taking to process?

Why did you file the I-824, was the wrong location selected on the I-526?

Right now, the I-824 takes about six months. After the I-824 approval, NVC will issue a fee bill and you will need to file DS-260 with NVC. I would say it is probably going to take about a year to get the immigrant visa to travel if I had to guess.

I-824s are one of the slowest applications. Expect many months and possibly more than a year.

You need to file Form I-824 only if you initially selected "adjustment of status" in the United States instead of immigrant visa processing at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country. Otherwise, the approved I-526 petition automatically should be sent through the National Visa Center (NVC) to that office. Form I-824 processing averages about four to six months.
