My 48-month extension will expire in Oct. Can I call to schedule an appointment for an I-551 stamp in Aug.? Or does the date have to be limited to one month before the 48-month expiry date? I will be out of the country by end of Aug., and the processing time seems to be 2-4 weeks, so I want to get the stamp earlier. Is this possible? What are the steps?

Immigration attorneysThey have a new system for ADIT stamps by mail but I still do not think you can obtain these that far ahead.

Immigration attorneysYou can try calling USCIS to request an earlier stamping appointment. It may take a few tries as most field offices will require you to be within the one month expiration window.
