What should a principal EB-5 applicant do if their family is abroad but have not received the NVC email?

I received an I-526 approval on my EB-5 direct investment application on June 1, 2022. I filed my I-485 three weeks ago as the principal applicant. My family is in Canada and they want to apply for the immigrant visa at the U.S. Consulate in Canada but there is still no email from NVC. What do I have to do?

You need to file an I-824 following to join application so your derivatives can process in Montreal after your case is approved.

They cannot start their cases until yours is approved, unless they can come legally to the U.S. and also file I-485s. If not coming to the U.S., make sure you file an I-824 so they can process later as follow-to-join applicants.

There is a significant backlog of immigrant visa cases with the NVC. It is likely that there are many people with approved immigrant petitions who are waiting for the initial email from the NVC.
