Would citizenship in Cyprus, approved within the next few months, enable my family to live in the United Kingdom?

When my family initially started looking into EU citizenship programs it was because we saw a less expensive way to live and have our children study in the United Kingdom. The Investor Visa in the United Kingdom is out of our budget. I see the citizenship scheme in Cyprus leads to a passport in two months. That given, could we still have the right to live in the United Kingdom if we take up residency there before Brexit takes effect?

The Cyprus Passport Program allows you to become European Citizens and obtain all the EU rights. Regarding your questions whether or not the Brexit will affect any of those EU rights (residency rights) is not decided yet by the EU Community as well as the United Kingdom. Since Cyprus has a Commonwealth System, it will, of course, be treated more favourably than other EU countries.

At the moment, holders of Cyprus Citizenship are able to live in the United Kingdom without any visa. However, in the near future, this will depend on how Brexit will be adopted. The Cyprus passport is being obtained after the period of 6 months, i.e. the main applicant and his family need to obtain a residence card for the period of 6 months. After these 6 months have passed and their application is being approved by the Authorities, then they are eligible to obtain their Cyprus passport. As for UK citizenship, this will depend on how Brexit will be adopted.

Yes. As an EU national, you would be entitled to live and work in Britain pre-Brexit and, from what the British government says, that would not change post-Brexit.
