Do I have to change information on DS-260 and police clearance certificate if I renew my passport?

Last week I applied for passport renewal. On the same day, I received an email from the National Visa Center that I can submit DS-260 and other required civil documents. I submitted my current passport details. Do I need to update my DS-260 with the new passport number when I receive it? I already submitted my police clearance certificate which has my current passport number. Do I have to get a new police clearance certificate with the new passport number?

You can update the information on your new passport with the National Visa Center (NVC) anytime you obtain the passport. Typically, the police certificate does not need to updated just because you obtain a new passport unless the regulation in your country requires it.

You can update it, or provide it at the interview.

No just advise the consulate of the new passport and bring both to the actual interview.

The DS260 cannot be updated after submission. Bring your new documents and old passport to the interview.

You will most likely not need a new police certificate but you do want to request to reopen the DS-260 to show the new passport information.

You can update the information regarding your passport at the time of the interview.
