What will happen if the Regional Center Pilot Program is not extended?

I have read that the program which allows for EB-5 investors to invest through regional centers could end in about a year. What will happen if the Regional Center Pilot Program is not extended? If I invest through a regional center now, how will my visa application be affected next year if the program ends?

Many regional centers and EB-5 immigration lawyers are actively lobbying to have the Pilot Program become permanent. However, in the unlikely scenario of not having the program extended or made permanent, we expect that all the people who have already filed as of the termination of the program will be allowed to be processed and enter.

You should be protected if you invest through a regional center project now. It is more likely than not that the Pilot Program will be extended.

There is strong belief that the EB-5 Regional Center program will be extended. As the date for the program ending comes close, the USCIS will send a statement of what happens to the regional center projects and the investors who have filed.

Every year the regional centers must renew their status. It is important to select wisely.

Most likely the regional center program will be extended. If it is not extended, the USCIS will announce how it will handle pending cases. The USCIS probably would process cases in the system that had been filed prior to the program expiration date, but even that is not a certainty.

If you invest in a regional center before the program ends you should be protected.

I have not heard any indication that the program would not be extended. I would hope that any existing petitions are still recognized, but I do not see the end of the program as being an issue in the first place.

If the Regional Center Pilot Program is not renewed, regional center projects will no longer be able to rely on indirect employment. Each investor would have to show that their investment created 10 direct jobs.
