For Abteen Vaziri, the path to running for Congress in Texas’s 32nd district is not a typical political journey; it is an intensely personal crusade.
His family fled Iran as political refugees, instilling in him a profound appreciation for American values and a fierce drive to prevent the kind of mismanagement and oppression they witnessed abroad. Vaziri calls himself a “baby of the revolution,” reflecting on the life-threatening circumstances surrounding his birth in Iran:
“My mom’s water broke, and she had to go to the hospital. My dad took her to the hospital in the middle of martial law and lockdown. He was pulled over several times and almost shot. So, I consider myself a ‘baby of the revolution,’ of sorts,” he said.
After his father escaped a death sentence and the family found refuge in Germany, they eventually relocated to the United States. This difficult journey has forged his core identity.
“I’ve given up my Iranian citizenship, and today, I identify as a Texan more than anything.”
The EB-5 Catalyst for Political Action
Vaziri is a seasoned finance and legal professional—an experienced hedge fund manager, real estate investor, attorney, and registered broker-dealer. Drawing on his education in computer science, finance, and business law, his 13 years of leadership in the EB-5 immigrant investor program became the turning point for his political aspirations.
As a former IIUSA board member, he successfully managed investment projects, including six approved by USCIS, using the EB-5 program to create thousands of jobs in the U.S. He has worked for three regional center groups and today runs his own EB-5 broker-dealer business, Uptown Companies Inc. This experience convinced him that politics was the next logical step.
“EB-5 really made me interested in politics,” he said. “You could sit still and see what happens, or you can get involved in politics and really formulate what happens.”
Job Creator and Policy Champion
Vaziri is running as a Republican for the TX-CD 32 seat in the 2026 election, focusing on restoring U.S. economic sovereignty and supporting local jobs. He highlights his career in creating real economic activity, pointing to his proudest EB-5 achievement: the renovation of the Statler Hilton Hotel in downtown Dallas.
“The other candidates in Dallas running for this Congressional District can’t say they were personally responsible for creating, you know, 8,000 jobs for one project. Helping the city of Dallas revitalize its downtown area by turning this ugly old, vacant building into one of the city’s most beautiful, thriving buildings. And I did it with the EB-5 program.”
He advocates for the EB-5 program as a critical tool for legal immigration, securing U.S. borders, and promoting the American Dream by attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). He argues for a “common sense” approach to immigration and economics that protects the U.S. first.
“EB-5 guarantees that we have some of the best and brightest come to this country,” he said.
“As an immigrant, I feel very fortunate that the U.S. opened its arms and, as a political refugee, allowed me and my family to come here so we wouldn’t be killed in Iran. I want everybody to have a good life. But as a guest, I must have the common sense to make sure that U.S. citizens here in the U.S. are taken care of first and foremost. As a Congressman, I will do what’s right for the U.S. population.”
Vaziri sees his professional expertise and personal history as the unique foundation needed to lead the growing 32nd district, ensuring its economic future is built on stability, growth, and the creation of local American jobs.
