What do you tell Russan investors about source of funds?

Russian investors do not differ from any other foreign investor applying for EB-5. The source of funds must be documented in a reliable and comprehensive manner. The investor must be able to prove that the source of the investment funds are from lawful activities.

The regulations require that all EB-5 capital must be lawfully obtained. The regulations also include some examples of the types of documents that can be submitted to show the lawful source of the funds. For investors from certain countries, however, these documents are either not available or not reliable. An experienced EB-5 immigration attorney can help you with alternative and secondary pieces of evidence to meet this requirement. Source of funds is extremely important. We tell all our clients that we need to be able to document where the money came from. If there are restrictions on how much money can be transferred out of any country, you generally need to deal with authorities in their respective countries to ensure that you are able to transfer the money.

Russians must prove the same source of funds as everyone else. The tax system is not as easy but it is possible for Russians to use the EB-5 program.
