What are the educational requirements for an EB-5 investor?

How educated and/or experienced do I have to be to invest in a United States project? Should I prepare a resume as part of my application?

As a rapper once said, "it's all about the Benjamins, baby." The primary concern is your source of investment funds. Your education will only play a small factor when you are applying at the consulate for your visa or to USCIS to adjust your status.

There is no educational requirement to be an EB-5 investor. The EB-5 investor will need to comprehend the EB-5 project documents that are being signed.

There are no educational requirements. USCIS just needs to confirm that the money you are investing was lawfully earned, inherited, etc.

It is not a requirement under the law. If you lawfully earned, received and/or were gifted your funds, then that will be one of the primary concerns. Nonetheless, I would recommend preparing a biographic statement and resume concerning your past education, employment experience and business history.

There is no specific education or experience requirement to be an EB-5 investor. Preparation of the resume is done to show the background of the person investing and to indirectly show how the investor could have obtained a legal source of funds to invest.

There are no specific requirements. Whether or not to include your resume will depend on the source of funds strategy used to prepare your I-526 petition. If your lawful source of funds is from business income or employment, you should include a resume to demonstrate your employment history or business activities throughout the years. If funds come from loan proceeds, a gift or inheritance, there is no need to include a resume.

There are no educational or work experience requirements to be an EB-5 investor. Resumes, educational credentials and work salary/income histories are often submitted because they can help demonstrate that the invested capital was lawfully obtained.

Unlike Canadian programs, there is no such educational/experiential requirement. Many investors are gifted funds and have no professional experience at all. Whether or not you should include a resume depends upon the strategy utilized by your attorney you should not attempt to make the filing without legal counsel!
