How do EB-5 investors transfer money from China?

An investor from China is having a problem transferring funds to the U.S. for his EB-5 investment. He is exploring the possibility of securing a loan from a source outside of China and having the funds sent to the investment project. Can you provide any suggestions or guidance on how to transfer money out of China? Can he use a loan from outside of China?

Try the Bank of China. They are now allowing one time transfers.

Loans can be an acceptable source of funds, but remember that a personal investment must be made, not an investment on your behalf. Retaining experienced EB5 counsel will help authenticate the source of funds, qualification for the loan, or whatever else the investor plans to use for the investment.

Due to currency restrictions within their country, Chinese investors often use intermediaries to transfer money to the U.S. Please contact a qualified EB-5 attorney to assist you in the process.

Many banks in China can now facilitate the transfer. You should speak with your attorney with regard to this matter.
