My case status has been changed to ‘updated your name for your form I-526.” What does this mean?

Our case status has read ”case received” for about 4 months. When checked our status, today, it now says ”updated your name for your form I-526.’ What does this mean?

Your EB-5 Immigration attorney will be able to advise you. The question is what name did you provide in the initial petition I-526 you filed with the USCIS.

The USCIS case status system online is not the most reliable or informative system, but it is what we have. USCIS may have corrected the spelling of your name or made some other computer entry regarding your name that caused the case status system to be updated. You should not worry too much about it unless the case status system shows that a Request for Evidence (RFE) or other notice has been mailed to you and you have not received it. If you are concerned, you can email the USCIS Investor Program Office (IPO).

The website status is not always correct. Your attorney should contact the USCIS to inquire about what this means if he has not updated your name on your filing.
