In light of the buzzing EB-5 market in India, which is one of the fastest growing global markets with a rapidly increasing number of EB-5 applicants, the EB5 Investors Magazine hosted a sold out 2017 Mumbai EB-5 & Investment Immigration Expo in India on Oct. 4-5. More than 50 sponsors and 30 panelists shared their industry insights and showcased their brands during the event.

Over 350 foreign intermediaries, attorneys, service providers, EB-5 regional centers and international developers gathered at the elegant St. Regis Mumbai hotel for the successful expo, which kicked off with a cocktail reception at the luxury roof top reception hall, where guests networked with professionals around the globe.

The reception was followed by a full-day expo featuring educational and interactive panels moderated by professionals experienced in the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program and global investment immigration programs. Panels highlighted the latest information about the EB-5 process, source of funds and tax issues faced by Indian investors. Panel discussions also featured the pros and cons between direct versus regional center investments, due diligence strategies and a look at the EB-5 future for Indian citizens.

Workshop moderators and speakers included distinguished industry professionals, including Chad Ellsworth and Parisa Karaahmet of Fragomen Worldwide, Kevin Wright of Baker Tilly Capital, Jeff Decicco of CanAm Investor Services, Manuel Ortiz of Civitas Capital Group, Christian Triantaphyllis of Foster and Eren Cicekdagi of Golden Gate Global.

Expo participants were able to network and connect with EB-5 professionals, gain market knowledge and reach out to specialized investment immigration professionals to grow their business.

Rakesh Patel, managing partner of The Patel Law Group, said it was a powerful event.

“I thought the EB-5 & Investment Immigration Expo in Mumbai was a very informative and important introduction into the Indian market,” he said. “From industry leaders to investors, this was a great opportunity for all to learn about the Indian market and the wonderful opportunities it has to offer.  I was honored to be a part of it and look forward to more great work in India.”

Aristos Eliades, Business Development Manager of Pafilia Property Developers Ltd in Cyprus, agreed.

“It was a well-organized event, with a distinguished list of participants, both as speakers and as attendees,” he said. “For our company, it was a very good first step towards the very promising market of India and we do hope that this was just the beginning for a series of successful events organized by “EB-5 Investors” for India.”

Mitchell Wexler, partner at Fragomen, said it was “a superb conference.”

“Quite a feat to assemble in Mumbai a variety of over 400 stakeholders in our EB-5 ecosystem,” he said. “Not only were the sessions extremely informative but the networking opportunities were quite valuable as well.”

The next opportunity to network and sponsor is the 2018 Las Vegas EB-5 & Global Investment Immigration Convention on Jan. 26-27. The two-day networking and educational event, which became the EB-5 industry’s most-attended domestic event last year with more than 1,000 attendees, will feature a gathering of migration agents, regional centers, immigration and securities attorneys, developers, broker-dealers and other prominent EB-5 and citizenship-by-investment program stakeholders.
