The Nevada State EB-5 Regional Center (NVeb5), located in Carson City, Nev., was established as a non-profit regional center by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in July 2013. The state of Nevada is focusing on job creation in the Sierra region of Nevada through capital investments by foreign investors who are looking to attain U.S. citizenship. NVeb5 also looks to reinvest its profits to build funds for start-up businesses, build career skills, and develop business programs. Although it was only recently opened, NVeb5 already has the potential to create about 3,000 jobs through its first three projects and is expected to invest an amount of $86 million.
This regional center came into being through the partnership of the Northern Nevada Development Authority and The Hop & Mae Adams Foundation. Both of these entities are trying to secure capital funding–what they see as the solution to the biggest challenge facing economic diversity and recovery. NVeb5 is licensed to operate in 17 Nevada counties in non-casino hotel, meat processing, and geothermal manufacturing and research industries, among others.

The chairman of Nveb5 is Rob Hooper, a renowned businessman in the state of Nevada. Hooper also serves as executive director of NNDA, Northern Nevada Development Authority. He honed his business techniques in the areas of science, education, business education, and globalization. NVeb5’s vice chairman is Steve Neighbors. He, too, has over 30 years of experience and boasts the award of “Businessman of the Year.” Neighbors is a highly experienced entrepreneur who has reached a milestone of success in his career. His experience in the areas of labor, material, and restructuring make him an excellent financial adviser who can detect early signs of financial management problems. He has also invested in businesses that involve computers, construction, and supply and distribution.
