Thomas Jacobsen is the founder Papilio Services Limited, serving as the head of the firm, head of the private client department, the money laundering reporting officer and the accredited agent for the Malta Individual Investor Programme.
Papilio Serviced Limited is an independent service provider for private clients seeking corporate, residency and taxation services. They offer tax solutions; the formation and management of companies, partnerships, funds, trusts, and foundations; as well as those seeking citizenship-by-investment in Malta.
Prior to founding Papilio, Jacobsen worked as a lawyer for the Royal Norwegian Air Force. After that stint, he relocated to Malta and, for ten years, worked in the tax and legal department of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He has a vast amount of experience assisting several international and local clients with tax compliance and cross-border matters. Then, in 2007, Jacobsen became the co-founder of a boutique multidisciplinary organization that advised international clients and HNWIs (high net worth individuals) on compliance, corporate, residence and tax issues. In addition to income tax matters—such as capital gains taxation, double taxation treaties, intellectual property structuring and international taxation optimization—Jacobsen has handled Maltese corporate matters including corporate governance, as well as management and administration.
Jacobsen earned his law degree in international tax from the University of Oslo. He is a member of several organizations; he is a fellow of the Malta Institute of Taxation, a member of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners (IFSP) in Malta, the IBA (International Bar Association), the Investment Migration Council (IMC), the IFA (International Fiscal Association) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). He speaks fluent Danish, English, Norwegian and Swedish.
