He continued his studies and completed his Juris Doctor degree, and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law. After graduating from law school, he worked at McCullough Campbell and Lane, and Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, a well-known national firm. Attorney Perkins learned and gained experience in handling complicated and high-profile immigration cases while working for those two large law firms.

Attorney Perkins is an active member of the National Immigration Project and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). He served as the chairperson of AILA’s Young Lawyers Division Chicago Chapter. He is currently on of the board of directors of the Gilbert Hall School, a school for children with autism, located in Culver City, California.
